Buying Guide
Key purchase considerations for slow swing speeds include compression level, core design, and cover material. Low-compression balls reduce the impact feel and maximize distance for slower tempos, while still delivering soft greenside performance. Look for:
- Low compression and soft core materials for a forgiving feel.
- Hybrid or Surlyn covers that balance durability with soft touch on approach shots.
- High-visibility colors or markings to help with alignment and tracking flight.
- Consistency in distance and straight flight to compensate for slower swing speeds.
- Short-game performance, including greenside spin control and putting feel.
Performance perspectives vary. Some players prioritize maximum greenside spin, which can come from slightly firmer cores paired with specialized covers. Others prefer the softest possible feel to reduce impact shock and improve touch on short irons and chips. It’s advisable to try a 4–6 ball sleeve from a chosen brand to compare feel, distance, and control before committing to a full dozen.
